Hi, I'm trying to insert multiple instances of the same cable harness design into a system-level project. I can insert the 1st instance okay, but when I insert the 2nd instance, its cables get disassociated from the harness and its cable cores get disassociated from the cables.
The workflow was:
- I created a cable harness in its own project and turned it into a macro.
- I opened a new project and inserted the cable harness macro into it. So far so good.
- I inserted the macro a 2nd time to create a 2nd instance of the cable harness in the system-level project, and I noticed it removes cable core associations. See images below and their captions.
Any ideas on how I can keep the cable core associations when trying to insert multiple instances of a harness into a project? And FYI, I already tried switching between "automatic" and "manual" mark modes for the cables. It behaves the same in either case.
EDIT: I was able to get a 2nd instance of the cable harness, but only after I changed the paste-special command to create new marks for the cables. I was hoping to keep the cable marks "CBL1 "CBL2" "CBL3" the same because that's how they will be labeled, physically, in each instance of the harness. I was thinking giving each instance of the harness a unique location would allow multiple of the same cable marks, but apparently not.
Cable cores are associated properly (see core colors) with the 1st instance of the macro. Cable cores disassociate on the 2nd instance of the harness. First harness is H1, which maintains the cable core associations. Second instance is H2, which you can see no longer has any cables associated with it (only wires). Paste-Special command options used to insert the cable harness macros.
