We are running Solidworks 2024 SP5 and 2024 PDM Standard.
This has happened on 2 occasions that I know of. So it may be more prevalent that I am thinking.
I had a 78 page drawing package to print and I used SW2024 Task Scheduler to convert it to PDF. Rather than give everyone access to the PDM, we store the PDFs in a public directory that Purchasing and the Shop can get to. I was contacted by a vendor who could not read the drawings that were sent. They looked like this
When I opened the slddwg, I saw the exact same thing that was printed (shown above). So I believe that this is NOT a convert-to-PDF-issue.
However, when I opened the SLDDWG there were no error messages. None of the dimensions were colored indicating an issue. Clicking on the model gave me a ghost image of the correct model that SHOULD have been shown. Right clicking and selecting OPEN would bring up the correct model. I tried to refresh the model and nothing changed. I ended up erasing the views, re-inserting them and re-dimensioning everything.
I should also add that I had the model checked out and I was the only one working on it. It wasn't as if there were a lot of different version floating around.
I have been getting warnings that the display drivers were using not the version SW likes to see. So that may be the cause. I typically get our IT department to install the correct drivers. But the next time they update windows (which is too often!) they are over written.
I have no idea why this is happening but I need to get ahead of this so that this kind of issue doesn't happen again.
