I want to make a sub-assembly that allows some mates to move after I insert the sub-assembly into my main assembly. I have done this before and know it is simple but it has been too long ago for me to remember how.

Example:

A dial indicator (sub-assembly) that touches a slide (main assembly). When the slide is position at a different position I want the stem of the indicator to extend or retract.
