I have a client who uses Pro-E. I have been routinelyexporting step 214 files to them for a few years. I got a call theother day asking me if I had switched to SW 2009. When I replied inthe affirmative, he told me that he had been having problems withmy step files since early December-the same time I made my move to2009.
What he is telling me is that every one of my parts comes in as asub-assembly. That doesn't make any sense to me. I don't even haveany multi-body parts in most of what I do for him. I create a molddesign as an assembly of solids-often with a few sub-assemblies.What he is telling me is that he can see the regular kinds ofsub-assemblies that he used to seeing but that now each part is nowa sub-assembly of different `hunks' of the part and that it is veryhard to work with my data now.
I can see no relevant settings in the step export dialogue thatshed any light on this. (I have round-tripped a couple step filesand they look fine to me in SW.) All I can think if is that I douse surfacing techniques and that perhaps I have not hidden all ofthe surfaces before export. Will these still be exported if I havethem hidden?
Any thoughts?SolidworksImport export
