Hi All,
Perhaps this question is already answer a hundred times but I have not been able to find any recent information on this topic. We are testing a high density environment where SolidWorks runs on virtual machines, equipped with NVIDIA A40 GPU's. The GPU's are licensed for use as a virtual workstation (vWS). We run SolidWorks Simulations on the VM's and we just notice that all calculations are executed by the CPU instead of the GPU. It seems like SolidWorks is completely ignoring the GPU.
Since the NVIDIA A40 is not listed ad officially certified, our supplier cannot help us any further. We tried many things and followed all suggestions like setting the virtual memory, checking the proper SolidWorks file locations settings, etc..
The hardware allocated to the VM's is as follows:
- 16x Intel Xeon Gold 6430 (hyperthreading enabled)
- 32GB Memory
- 256GB NVME storage
- NVIDIA A40 GPU (for testing purposes not partitioned)
- Operating system is Windows Server 2022 Datacenter edition (but we tested with the same result on Windows 11)
The VM's are running on a Dell PowerEdge server with Microsoft Windows Server 2022 and Hyper-V setup as the hypervisor.
