Solidworks on a new laptop

Hi all, I think this is the better place to put this question.

I'm planning on getting a new laptop pretty soon and I just want to make sure I get the right one. I use Solidworks through my engineering course at uni. I don't think we will use it to it's absolute max, but it would be nice if I could do most of it on my laptop at reasonable speeds.

The laptop is customisable so the plan is...

7970M graphics card. Brand new, high end gaming card. Question is, how will it run Solidworks? I'm sure it won't be atrocious, but I actually know nothing about it.

I will use it for gaming too, so this gives (possibly) gives me some versatility.

16GB RAM. I was surprised that this is kinda standard now. I only save \$40 going don to 8GB. Not really worth it.

Ivy Bridge i7 2.3 GHz (3.3GHz turbo). This is what I'm not at all sure about. It's \$200 to go up to 2.6 (3.6) GHz, but I'm not sure I'll see the difference. I know I won't for gaming. What bottlenecks Solidworks?

Also, what about runnings things like ANSYS and Solidworks simulation?

I'd very appreciate any general advice or thoughts to help with my decision.

Regards,

Gerhard
