I - along with my IT Support colleagues - have been asked to install SolidWorks onto our Windows network for use in our Design classes. We've followed the instructions available from help.solidworks.com to push this out as an MSI package with a MST transform file, and have also tried installing via a script. We've checked that all the prerequisites are installed, but are still encountering a strange problem. The software will isntall (ie you can see the files appearing in the "Program Files\Solidworks" folder, and then the installer will then report it's been interrupted (by what, we've no idea) and will completely roll-back the installation.
We've been trying to get this to work for over a week, and would prefer not to have to install it ont 60+ workstations by hand.
All clients are Windows XP SP3 32-bit, fully patched, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2Gb Ram and Intel (onboard) graphics. We know that these may not hit the required spec for solidworks, but the rooms are being upgraded at Christmas to Core i5, 4Gb Ram and external graphics cards.
Licence server is isntalled on a Windows Server 2003 32-bit machine.
If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd be extremely grateful. I'm able to send over log files or other details to anyone who can offer assistance.
