Hello,
I recently purchased the Solidworks student edition and was wondering if there were any differences with regard to how the part looks (appearances) within the viewport.
For example, take a look at this part: http://www.rickyjordan.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/SW13_PreviousRelease.jpg
As you can see, that part has a material applied to it that allows it to look like chrome (very shiny) and the floor also has a slight reflection.
On my version of Solidworks, it looks like this: https://forum.solidworks.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-119990-2220/sw%2Bpart.bmp
As you can see, it looks very dull and has no floor reflections.
Is this a limitation with the student version as opposed to some other versions of Solidworks? Is there no way I can get my viewport to look like the first image?
I have tried applying different materials to my parts with absolutely no luck at all. Only the dull color changes slightly.
Also, when I am in the menu that allows me to "edit scene", the checkbox for "floor reflections" is grayed out and will not allow me to check it. Is this yet another limitation of the student version?
NOTE: Photoview360 does work and does allow me to render the parts with reflections, but I would like to be able to have my viewport look like the first image in realtime as others have been able to do.
