As new models are being rolled out for next year, I have been finding more and more that the newer assemblies are slow to open, and that solidworks will freeze entirely nearly every time I click on one of the new parts.
Often times it will also freeze when deselecting parts too.
Recently I loaded in a new sub-assembly into an old model, it was a cabinet with the new door handle parts which I didn’t need. When I finished deleting all the door handles, it immediately stopped freezing - so it is definitely linked to the new part files, but only I am having the issue.
I expect that the slow loading is somehow related, as when the new parts are put into an old template it has the same issue.
There are no external references, and the parts are quite simple. one of them is basically a box with filleted corners and a single cut extrude in it.
The assemblies are being opened from the desktop, so it’s not a network issue.
I have checked all of my global and document settings against a co-worker’s, and we can’t find anything different.
I have even ensured that I have a copy of his material library in case it was searching for a missing material.
I cannot find any reason why these parts might be causing solidworks to freeze for 30-60 seconds with every click. None of my coworkers are having the same issue on the same parts. We also have the same solidworks version.
