While I know that I'm not on the perfect or polished system, I'm running a quad-core 2.5GHz, 12GB RAM, and dual Quadro FX 1800 video cards, and 1TB hard drive. My (I know already, assininely huge) 16000+ part assembly takes somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes to open, then once it is open, it's slow, slow, slow. I wouldn't be disappointed except for the fact that watching my RAM usage for SolidWorks never even approaches 2GB. I've seen it as high as 1.5GB, but it's like the resources available don't exist, and so I wait. sldbgproc.exe will sit and clunk away chewing up the other 3 cores while the main solidworks exe chews through the primary core, and it takes what could only be described as 'too long' while I wait. When it does load, I get a 'window' in my main window like the attached file shows, but I still get my dimension lines. I updated the drivers for the video cards, have no idea how to make this function better.
Am I being unreasonable? Should I just suck it up and realize that I shouldn't be rendering *every* pixel on the display I'm designing despite my deeply ingrained need to show my part in its entirety / all its glory?
