Hi everyone,

New to the forums and I actually just made an account for this problem.

Im trying to open a .STEP file for and XY Gantry system from a vendor but whenever I open it, solidworks freezes on creating model and finally give the "this program has stopped responding" message from windows when I click anywhere. It doesn't matter how long I leave it loading it doesn't open. I'm using Solidworks 2017, and another friend at a another company opened it without problem on SW18.  Am I doing something wrong?
