Hi everyone,
I am considering buying a Microsoft Surface Pro 11 for Business, model EP2-20078, with:
- Intel Core Ultra 7 268V
- Intel Arc 140V integrated graphics
- 32 GB RAM
- 1 TB SSD
- Windows 11 Pro
I know that this configuration is not officially certified for SOLIDWORKS, so I am not looking for general comments about certified workstation GPUs. My use is relatively light: mainly sketches, parts, drawings, and small assemblies.
At the moment, I use a Surface Pro 7+ with Intel graphics and SOLIDWORKS 2025 works very well for my needs. However, with SOLIDWORKS 2026 I have encountered graphical issues on the same machine, especially with sketches becoming invisible after exiting sketch edit mode.
Since the graphics handling has changed in SOLIDWORKS 2026, I would like to know whether anyone has actually used SOLIDWORKS 2026 with an Intel Arc 140V, and ideally on this specific Surface Pro 11 Intel model.
In particular, I would be interested in knowing:
- whether sketches remain correctly visible outside edit mode;
- whether parts and drawings display correctly;
- whether there are graphical artifacts or disappearing geometry;
- whether hardware acceleration works properly;
- whether SOLIDWORKS falls back to the legacy renderer or Software OpenGL;
- which SOLIDWORKS 2026 service pack and Intel graphics driver you are using.
I experienced very poor performance in SOLIDWORKS 2026 on a Surface Pro 7+ with Intel graphics due to the graphical changes the CAD company announced.
I am not concerned about large assemblies, rendering, or heavy simulation. I mainly want to know whether this configuration is stable and usable for normal/light CAD work in SOLIDWORKS 2026 before purchasing it.
Any first-hand experience would be greatly appreciated.
