SolidWorks 2025 SP5 freezes while saving SLDdrw files

Hi,

Has anyone experienced random freezing issues in SolidWorks 2025 SP5 when saving drawing files (*.SLDdrw)?

The problem occurs unpredictably during normal work. I can save the same file several times without any issues, but eventually SolidWorks gets stuck during the save operation.

In most cases, the changes seem to be saved successfully, but SolidWorks does not complete or exit the save operation. The program remains “busy,” stops responding, and has to be force-closed using Task Manager.

The issue appeared even immediately after a complete reinstallation of SolidWorks 2025. I did not experience this problem when using SolidWorks 2023 on the same computer.

The problem seems to occur specifically with drawing files that contain views of assemblies, especially assemblies with multiple configurations. These drawing files sometimes contain two or more sheets.

I have not noticed the same issue with drawings of a single part, even when the part itself has multiple configurations. So far, the freezing appears to affect only SLDdrw files displaying assembly models.

My system specifications:

  • SolidWorks 2025 SP5

  • Dell Pro Tower QCT1250

  • Intel Core i7-14700, 2.10 GHz

  • 32 GB RAM

  • NVIDIA Quadro P1000

  • Intel UHD Graphics 770

  • Windows 11 Pro, build 26200.8655

The error seems random and is not limited to one specific drawing file.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Could it be related to assembly configurations, multiple drawing sheets, graphics drivers, the hybrid graphics configuration, the Windows 11 build, or SolidWorks 2025 SP5 itself?

Any suggestions or possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.
