Solidworks 2010 Mac OSX w/ bootcamp Win 7 64bit - Freezing

Hello everyone,

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.

I'm am inquiring if anyone is running Solidworks 2010 on a mac (macbook pro, or iMac) running Windows 7 64bit via bootcamp and/or parallels.

When I first do a win 7 installation and setup solidworks it runs fine, no freezing, no issues. Once I install Windows updates solidworks starts to freeze and basically becomes unusable. I have been troubleshooting for the past week and I'm trying to figure out what Windows update it might or could be.

Yesterday I successfully got it running on the latest MBP 2.66 i7 and I didn't uninstall any win updates.

I actually uninstalled the parallels tools package that gets installed when you setup parallels.

I don't know if this is a fix or if that was what fixed the issue. I will be trying this on our iMacs today and see how that goes.

I would like to know if anyone has encountered this issue and if so, maybe we could figure out what is the direct cause and maybe inform everyone here what not to install to keep solidworks running on Macs.

I understand they are not officially supported, but I see a lot of people use solidworks on a mac.

*Side Note*

When we would have solidworks lock up on our macs via bootcamp we could get SW2010 to run fine via parallels. Not sure why, maybe a driver issue, but that is why I am here. I'd prefer to have my users run SW2010 via bootcamp and not parallels. This also does not seem to be a problem with older generation MBP's (non-unibody) Solidworks 2010 runs fine on those machines.

Thanks

Anthony
