Hi,
we did not start in 3DExperience so far, but we're currently preparing the data migration. We come from PLM system Keytech, which has a good SolidCAM-Addin.
My question does not address to SolidCAM-users only, because maybe there is a solution or workaround which only exceeds my understanding of 3DExperience objects, revisions, or branching.
The question in a few words:
- Is there any way to really integrate SolidCAM data to 3DExperience
I know the SolidCAM-Addin works with Solidworks Connected. But this IMHO does not include a collaborative way of working on the platform. There is a video available where SolidCAM proudly shows the Solidworks Connected Addin, but they take the 3D data via 3DDrive and save it back to 3DDrive after having created the SolidCAM data, internally stored into the SLDPRT. But 3DDrive is more like working with USB-sticks, with manual uploads, downloads, and no change notification and all the mistakes that could happen.
To be more precise with my question:
- Is it possible to get and to store SolidCAM-Data somehow from / to collaborative space?
Our typical or preferred process would be:
- The Part is released by an engineer
- the part is communicated to our inhouse CAM-workplace
- the CAM-jobs are created and
- either the separate (externally stored) SolidCAM Prz-file is stored as attachment to the physical-product.
- or the SLDPRT of the (released) physical product is overwritten (without changing the geometry), when the SolidCAM-data is stored internally in the SLDPRT-file
Option 2.) would ensure the realtime dependencies of SLDPRT and SolidCAM-data. But of course overwriting a released physical product is not best practice and I guess that it is not possible to ensure that there is only data added, and not changed.
Any ideas?
Best regards
Thomas
