So I just ran into a small issue with smart dimensions. I was adding a sketch point to a part in order to place a form tool. The sketch point needed to be dimensioned a certain distance away from a centerline. If I select the point and the line and click above the line (on the same side as the sketch point), smart dimension works properly. But if I select the point and the line and click below the line (on the opposite side as the sketch point), smart dimension measures the distance from the point to the line on both sides, not between the two selected features. It didn't used to do this (just upgraded to 2015 SP1). The issue comes when I mistakenly click on the wrong side, and type in the desired distance from the point to the line, resulting in an actual "half-distance."
Is there a way to disable the "halving" feature of Smart Dimension? In the end, it's a fairly simple fix; I just keep making the mistake at work and then having to go back to find and fix. At the very least, could someone explain why this is a desirable feature? It seems that if you click two points, Smart Dimension should set the distance between those two points, not some arbitrary point in space that was not selected.
