TEAM 2783, Engineers of Tomorrow, Oldham County, Kentucky; Michael Degnan.

Engineers of Tomorrow is a local FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) team made up of high school students from Oldham, Jefferson and Bullitt counties.

The FIRST organization was founded by Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway, FIRST, (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), is re-energizing the youth of today to get excited about science and technology.

During their first year, the Engineers of Tomorrow won the regional All-Star Rookie Award and Safety Credits Award. This qualified them to attend the FIRST Robotics World Championship held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

They competed against other FRC Teams from around the world and interacted with representatives from NASA, National Instruments, BAE Systems, and other international corporations

Come check out their robot and listen to what it took to make it happen.

John Matrishon, Team Leader Design/Drafting Group, Smith and Wesson; WMASS SWUG leader.

John brings 22 years of experience to the table, quite literally.  He started off with a drafting table and eventually worked his way through Bruining CAD, SDRC Ideas, then struck gold in 1996 with SolidWorks.  He started with S&W fulltime after some contracting work in 2006.  He is responsible for training new employees and advises the IT dept on software and hardware needs.  In 2008 he started the Western Mass SWUG group.  They are very active with the local vocational school and are helping set up a CAD program there.  John did a very interesting presentation at NESWUG last month on system options
