"Slot" table?

I was working on my excel table but then began to wonder if there is a better way to do this.  Since I am new to tables in SW I may be overlooking something.  The assy has slots where terminals/terminal assemblies reside.  The populations vary on different versions but each has 3 rows of slots. The slots are numbered the same on each (1-6)  Can I make a BOM where the parts will coincide with those numbers (1-6)?  I see I can make an excel based BOM (assuming I can edit it to my liking?) but when I attempt that I get a message that I have to delete a SW version BOM.  The only SW that I have are on other sheets. This is a multi-sheet drawing and the other sheets need to have regular SW BOMs.

Feel I am spending too much time on these tables but would like to set them up for future assemblies.  Here is a pic of part.  You can see the rows of slots - 5 open (will contain componenst) and one blocked. thanks.
