Hey guys,

I am not really experienced in soldiworks and have 2 really simple questions.

I have a cylinder part like this and I want to sketch on them.

I tried sketching and extruding boss/base but it says it can't be done on non-planar faces. This is kind of what I am look for:

Just really small rectangular shapes. How do I make them just sketches ( zero height) and what do I do if I want to give them some height (but still having the curvature of the cylinder?
