In Catia one can start a positioned sketch and it has a selection in the sketch menu called Barycenter.
The sketch will aways stay centered to that surface even if the surface changes size or location.
It makes it easy to create sketch entities right in the center and no need to for constraining the center of those by using the outside profiles.
Fusion automatically creates a centered point that the one can select on the surface and the sketch will stay attached to that center point even if the feature before it changes size.
ZW3D one can use feature on the create sketch menu called "Use centroid defined by the Plane" and the sketch is automatically centered to that surface.
IronCad does it similar but it does not automatically add constraints and the origin the center will move if you do not add the constraints.
Inventor, I have not found a way to place the origin of a sketch, but one can create a centered point on a surface before creating the sketch by using the command called "Loop of Edges" which then can be used in a sketch for the center.
Hard for me to start using Solidworks as I have been so used to being able to center my sketches in the middle of any surface and is so easy with Catia.
Is a similar feature to place sketches on the centered of a part surface in Solidworks, or do I have to use constraints in the sketch to keep my profiles centered?
Thanks, Ryan
