Hello,

I'm just trying to understand the bolt connector simulation in SolidWorks.  Is there a way to determine if the bolt fails?  I have a test setup that I ran two analyses on using 50lb and 5000lb respectively.  The diameter of the hole is .250 using ASTM-A36 steel.  There is a no penetration contact set between the two faces in contact with each other of each part and has a pretension torque of 96 in./lbs.  Can anyone explain the 5000lb analyses?  Is this the way to determine if a bolt fails ... if at all?  Any light that can be shed would be great.
