Silksreen text on flat panels

Understand that our needs/usage of SW is pretty basic - nofancy rendering, animation, etc. We bend sheet metal into computerchassis and add front and rear panels silkscreened with I/Oinformation.

In order to add the silkscreen info, so far we have been usingsketched text that we extrude .oo5" off the sheet metal surface andcolor the extrusion black/white. Let me just say that SW's sketchedtext is really primitive, slow, unfriendly and not up to par withthe rest of the program.

This method looks okay on the model (although really bogs speeddown). However, when the drawing is created all the text shows upas an outline (not filled). This constantly causes our silkscreencontractors to ask "do you want this text as an outline or filled?"(There are more graphics than just text to silkscreen, so a simplenote on the drawing won't cover all situations).

We have tried filling the text by AREA HATCH/FILL, but this isREALLY SLOW as you have to pick each character individually, andafter about 5 picks it takes almost a minute to update each letter.

QUESTION: Is there a better way to do simple silkscreened graphicsand text?

UNACCEPTABLE ANSWER: Use another/additional piece ofsoftware.SolidworksGeneral
