This is Rohit. I have been engineering service company since last 4 years. I have observed in most of the Sheetmetal Detail drawings that we receive from different clients, the feature location dimensions are generally detailed in the bent or formed view of the component and not in the flat pattern view. I strongly believe that feature dimensions if given in the flat pattern view, it would ease the work of the fabricator who is creating the the sheet metal component which otherwise will be cumbersome and time consuming for the fabricator to calculate the feature location and dimensions from the bent or formed component view.

I need some insights on this, what are intents while dimensioning, pros and cons of the two ways of dimensioning.
