I am hoping one of you sheet-metal gurus can help me with a problem I'm having.
I have 2 models very similar to each other. They are round cylinders that will have a butt weld seam, with a few misc. patterned features at each end.
I created the shorter 3 Notch version first. I had to put some split lines in the bent shape to define certain areas. The split lines caused problems unfolding. So, it was easy enough to suppress these features in the flattened state, and recreated them parametrically to their original features, for representation while flattened. All is good with this model. It does exactly what I needed it to do.
I saved this model as a new file name (5 Notch). In this new model, I changed the length and diameter of the cylinder. I also changed the pattern count of the end features as well. But didn't change the features themselves (I did eliminate 1 feature altogether. But this should only simplify things). This model will not flatten and I can't figure out why. It's definitely not the split line features as I am using the same work around method as I did on the 3 Notch version.
I'm no sheet-metal expert. So, can someone in this forum, that knows sheet-metal modeling well, take a look at these and tell me what I'm doing wrong with the 5 Notch version? I would think that as simple as these features are, it would act the same as the 3 Notch version. But it's not. I just can't figure it out.
