Sheet Metal Flat Length Calculation

Dear All,

In SolidWorks while we make sheet metal part ,there are certain set of inbuilt formulas which the software uses to calculate the Flat length or the Development length of the part.

Material Inside:

Flat Length=Base flange Length+(2XEdge Flange Length)-(2XBend Deduction)

Material Outside:

Flat Length=Base flange Length+(2XEdge Flange Length)+(2X Part Thickness)-(2XBend Deduction)

Bend Outside:

Flat Length=Base flange Length+(2XEdge Flange Length)+(2X Part Thickness)+(2XBend Radius)-(2XBend Deduction)

But those formulas seems to applicable when my bends are at 90 degree.

When I manully calculate using those formula i get the exact flat length as shown by the software in case of 90 degree.

But the formula fails when my bends are say 35 degree. My theoritical value i.e calculated using the formula varies with value shown by the software.

When my bends are at other than 90 degree say 45 ,43 or 11 degrees, are there any certain other set of formulas which the software uses for calculating the Flat length.

Thanks & regards,

R.Vignesh
