Hello All,
I've been trying to find something relative to dxf layer mapping on this forum but can't seem to find something relevant in my searches for a cnc import of the dxf after it is sent from SW. I've basically been modeling my parts in SW, then saving them out as dxf files and importing them into Autocad. From there, I have to change the perimeter lines of the part to a "TORCH" layer and the drilled holes inside the dxf file to a "DRILL" layer. Then export out another dxf file under the same name overwriting the original. I can directly import this dxf file into our flamecut software which will automatically recognize the "cut" layers for the plasma burning as well as the "drill" layered holes that are to be drilled on the same machine (in lieu of burning them). Basically, I don't have to set up the layers in the CNC software since they're already set up in the file. Hoping I can have SW do this for me w/o having to go into Autocad which is time consuming.
Not sure of the exact procedure to set up two simple layers in SW under the layer mapping dialog box that will allow me to pick which layer I want the relative lines on the dxf file? I also want a layer called "scribe" that will allow some sheet metal lines to be scribed on some parts. I tried some settings but it appears I can only choose "geometry" for the entity in the right column, maybe cuz I'm choosing visible edges?
I've attached 3 screenshots of a simple part I had this morning. Thanks in advance.
