We are looking for a creative, energetic mechanical design engineer to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop the mechanical systems required in these products.
Job description:
- Mechanical engineering / consumer product design

- Experience in design for manufacturing
- Establish design goals, objectives and project schedules when required
- Understand customer needs and refine customer specifications
- Develop design concepts that meet goals and objectives. Assess ability of the designs to meet these. Conduct design reviews and demonstrate feasibility.
- Define functional requirements and develop detailed designs to fulfill these requirements with sufficient margin for high volume production (across multiple tool sets). Define performance parameters.
- Develop tools and measurement equipment required to characterize/qualify your designs.
- Sometimes assign required released part designs for tooling, ensuring manufacturability of the parts by conducting DFM reviews with the tooling engineers and procurement engineers. Optimize designs for assembly, manufacturability, and function. Participate in build reviews. Address issues that arise.
- Develop and execute test plans. Address defects and finalize designs. Verify that your designs meet all performance and reliability goals.
- Achieve manufacturing stability and knowledge transfer to assure a supportable part design, system, or product.
- 3D printer experience desired
- Familiarity with out-sourced manufacturing
- Must have a complete and thorough understanding of SolidWorks
- Two to five years consumer product design experience including product life cycle execution: definition, simulation, design verification, documentation, prototyping, debugging, testing, qualification, release to production, etc.
- Communicate well verbally, in writing and graphically.
- Computer literacy - spreadsheet, word processing understanding of basic file structures, network and web navigation familiarity
