We would like to perform screw calculations according to VDI 2230. For this calculation, we need the forces (axial and shear forces) acting on the screw connection. My goal is to calculate these forces using SolidWorks Simulation Professional 2022.

How do I obtain the forces required by VDI 2230?

I conducted a brief test with a screw as a connection element: a large cube with a screwed holder, subjected to a shear force of 500 N, an axial force of 300 N, a preload of 1000 N, and a friction coefficient of 0.15 at the interface.

In this test, I obtained the following connection forces for the screw:

• Shear force: 393 N

• Axial force: 1014 N

However, these forces are not the ones I need for the calculation according to VDI 2230. I require the result to be 500 N / 300 N.

How can I achieve this needed result?
