We have a lot of MS Word documents in EPDM Works.  We started our Vault with EPDM 2011 and upgraded to EPDM2014. Many of the MS Word files are in *.doc format (MS Office 2003...). We are now upgraded to later versions of MS Word and the files saved are *.docx. They are revision controlled.

When we need to up rev the existing *.doc files, can we simply overwrite the existing *.doc files with the *.docx version without changing the serial number of the file? We want to preserve the document history but also want to utilize the more current MS Word (and Excel too) formats.
