I am a bit unclear on the difference between Solidworks Routing and Solidworks Electrical 3D. I'm using Solidworks 2012 Educational License. I was hoping I could describe a bit of what I'm working on at school and someone could point me in the right direction in terms of what software to pursue.

W have the entire electrical system for a car described in Altium and I wanted to turn that into a 3D model of the routes. We have been working on exporting a from/to list from Altium to be imported through Solidworks Routing. I came across Electrical 3D the other day and it seemed really simple to go from 2D to 3D, but I haven't seen anything about a from/to list with Electrical 3D; how does it do with outside software (Altium in particular)? What would you recommend (Routing or Eectrical 3D) based on my description above?
