I'm not sure of the best way to approach this, but here's what I'm trying to create: I want to create a model of a steel mesh rolled or bent into a zig-zag pattern, kind of like a staircase, but with radius corners instead of sharp bends. See the attached jpg for the idea. The finished physical part is a steel perforated mesh material that I'm going to bend it into a zig-zag pattern.
I see a few possible ways to start, but not sure how to get to the end result. I could create a flat surface or solid with the mesh pattern, and then try to roll it to the right shape using a sketch to define the "roll pattern". I don't see how to get there, though.
I could create a simple surface, without any perforations, in the correct zig-zag shape, and then try to extrude the pattern through it, but that doesn't create the pattern around the rolled corners of the zig-zag. (This is what I've done in the attached jpg.)
Does anyone have any idea how to make this work?
Thanks in advance for the help!
