Is it possible to have a directory outside of the vault that could intermittently be polled for new files and be replicated into the vault?

I currently have a directory set that populates via a Microsoft Outlook macro. If an email condition is met, the message and attachments are saved into a directory. I would like to bring these files into EPDM automatically and overwrite on a regular basis. Likewise, it would be nice to replicate a directory of files in EPDM to a location outside of the vault for other use.
