Renaming solidworks files...

My company makes sheet metal enclosures fordatacenters/broadcast/military ... you name it. We have a number ofproduct lines and most of our jobs are children of one of thesestandard products (have you noticed nobody ever orders the standardproduct?). Anyway, it is very common to copy one project into a newfolder, rename the files and then make the modification necessary. Our part numbers are a 6 digit project code with a 3 digit partnumber (123456-100). Anyway, if a project has just 10 drawings, that is easily 25 files or so to rename (dwg, prt, asm). TheSolidworks rename feature is so painfully slow, that renaming 20 or25 files can easily take half an hour or more. I have tried thisfrom windows explorer, soidworks explorer, and from insidesolidworks. The process seems flawed to me, each file needs to berenamed individually, and for each file, the rest of the files inthat folder are scanned for reference to the file being renamed. This is a long process. Does anybody have a shortcut, or perhaps amacro that can do a find and replace type renaming in a directoryand maintain all of the proper references? Even if the processstill takes a long time, if it was automated, it can run in thebackground allowing me to place my attention elsewhere. I haveasked a number of the "experts" and have had no luck. I find ithard to believe that we are the only company that does this. Ican't imagine the PIA this would be with large assemblies.SolidworksGeneral
