Is there any way to reduce the polygons / detail of a file so when is imported to has less polygons than usual has?

I'm usng 3D Exploration to convert my SLDPRT into OBJ or other polygon files when required, but often when an object is small, it has many more polygons than I really need. Is there any way to control that when I save a file? Or maybe a direct export into OBJ from Solidworks which will allow me the level of detail?
