Hello,
I've come across an issue trying to export a file to send to a customer. The base assembly is 20MB, and the customer wants me to reduce the file size b/c he's having trouble inserting it into his program. Upon saving the assembly as a part file, the size increased to 24MB. After that, I tried to "defeature" the assembly and save as a .prt but that ballooned the size to 64MB. Saving the assembly as a "step" file increases the file size to 105MB.
So I guess my question is, is there a way to save this and dramatically reduce the file size like a "purge" in ACAD. The assembly doesn't need to be detailed at all, hence the "defeature" attempt. I thought saving as a part and making everything surfaces would do the trick but I was wrong. If this isn't possible maybe it would something to incorporate in the future, like a "block" feature that dumbs everything down.
Thanks,
Blake
