a part on our server is opening as 'read-only' and i can't explain this.

this occurs when no one else has it opened (other computers turned off) which would be the obvious explanation. i noticed in 'SolidWorks Explorer' that the part has the following detail:

in the 'Info' tab, the value for 'Attributes' is 'R', which no other parts seem to have...does this have something to do with it?
