Question About Laptop Specifications and Performance for SOLIDWORKS

Hello,

I am currently using SOLIDWORKS and would like to ask whether my current laptop specifications are suitable for SOLIDWORKS.

The PC I am currently using is a laptop, not a desktop, with the following specifications:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-14700HX
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5-4800
  • OS: Windows 64-bit

I currently use SOLIDWORKS for automotive component design, and I experience long processing times during the following operations:

  1. Long loading times when working with medium-to-large files
  2. Long calculation times when performing Pattern operations in Part
  3. Long save times when saving Assembly data as another file

I would like to know whether my current laptop specifications are suitable for these types of operations in SOLIDWORKS.

In particular, my current RAM is 32GB. Is 32GB sufficient for working with large design data, or would upgrading to 64GB provide a meaningful performance improvement? I would also like to know which hardware component—CPU, GPU, RAM, or SSD—has the greatest impact on performance for the operations described above.

Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could provide the recommended laptop hardware specifications for SOLIDWORKS, including officially supported or certified graphics cards, and advise what GPU specifications would be suitable for this type of work.

Thank you for your help.
