Query: SOLIDWORKS Connecting to 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Without Add-in Loaded

 

 

 

 

Hello Everyone,

I have a query regarding the connection workflow between Desktop SOLIDWORKS with cloud services and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

I am using Desktop SOLIDWORKS with cloud services and have installed Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS (Design with SOLIDWORKS) from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. As per my understanding, to connect SOLIDWORKS with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, it is required to have the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in loaded within SOLIDWORKS.

However, in my case, I do not have the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in available under Tools > Add-ins. Instead, I can see the 3DEXPERIENCE PLM Services icon in the Task Pane, and when I use it to connect, my SOLIDWORKS successfully connects to the platform. I am also able to upload data on the platform without any issues.

My query is: How is SOLIDWORKS able to connect and upload data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in my case without the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in loaded?
