Is anybody els able to reproduce that issue:
1) add a camera to your model

2) select "render-area"

3) open up the preview-rendering in window mode

4) activate the cameraview

5) change the aspect ratio/size of the camera view

Now, the preview rendering wont update correctly instead he will display the following result:
