I was revisiting SS curves today and it dawned on me that the only limit anyone ever talks about with regards to linear simulations in SW is yield strength. However, traditional SS curves stop being linear at the proportional limit, and unless I'm mistaken, "yield" is actually past the point of linearity for most of the materials in the SW database. So unless your Von-Mises stresses are some (not-insignificant) % below yield, then you need to throw out the results of your linear study, right? A search on these forums for "proportional limit" yielded all of 2 results. Not sure if I'm really looking for an answer or if I just suddenly have a grumpy engineer's axe to grind.
