Propagate sketch in pattern feature?

Looking for suggestions on this issue. SW2010

I have two configurations, A and B.

A needs 2 rectangular extruded cuts

B needs 3 rectangular extruded cuts

I have a feature Extrude-Cut1. It is a sketched rectangle on the face of a cuboid. This is the SEED feature. It's a centre point rectangle. There is another reference point 1mm in from the right, and 1mm up from the bottom. This is the REFERENCE point. The position of the rectangle on the cuboid face is controlled by dimensioning this point relative to the face edges.

I've used the linear feature pattern to pattern this, to get Linear-Pattern1

The quantity and spacing in the linear pattern feature is controlled by an embedded design table

So far, great, I can switch between configurations A and B and see the number (and spacing) of extruded cut outs changing.

Here's my issue though. When I pass this information to the manufacturing team, they need

1. The position of the REFERENCE point in the SEED relative to the face edges (easily done, that's how it was defined)

2. The position of the corresponding REFERENCE points in each of the patterned cut outs.

I can't see how to do 2 above.

Linear feature patterning does not propagate the underlying sketch, it propagates the cut out. So there is no corresponding REFERENCE point in the patterned cut-outs.

Anyone have any ideas?

btw, I thought about an additional sketch on the same plane as the original sketch, with a series of points dimensioned from the patterned cut outs.

But this doesn't work, because the number of cut-outs varies between configurations, and it is not possible to suppress individual points in a sketch.

Hope this is clear.
All suggestions accepted!
