Hello all,
I am posting this question on behalf of a coworker, so I'll do my best to accurately describe the problem he's having, but please feel free to ask for more information if you think it would help get to the root of the issue.
He's using SolidWorks 2014 SP3.0 (recently updated from 2013) and has recently had trouble creating new parts from within SolidWorks. That is to say, he'll click the "New" icon on the menu bar and nothing happens. He'll click Ctrl+N (hotkey for "New") and nothing happens. Selecting "New" from the File menu also does nothing. Then he'll switch to a different part or drawing and it will work again. It's intermittent too. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes he can't make new files. He's getting very frustrated. "I'm gonna drop kick SolidWorks in a minute" was his exact response.
Does anyone have any ideas of what could be going on here?
Here's some more information that might help:
We store all of our files on a windows file server. He's using an HP ZBook.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
