I'm wondering if there is a way to get Solidworks to update existing route assemblies with newly implemented pipe descriptions.

Up to this point we have been manually doing our BOM's in excel and the importing them into our drawings, however now we have taken the time to update our library parts properties so that we can transition into automatic BOM's. The problem is we have already started modeling several projects and want to use the auto bom's for the drawings. If I start a new route assembly the piping description comes in fine, but if the route was modeled prior to the pipe properties being done then nothing will populate in the BOM. I'm sure this has something to do with the fact that configurations are created for each pipe segment based on the "default" pipe part. Please advise.
