I am a complete newbie on Solidworks.. I presently support the PTC Intralink (soon to be PDMLink) system for our company.

We acquired a company that uses Solidworks.  As such I make analogies to the PTC PDM world when I ask these questions.

I am struggling with the complete picture, but appearances are we have:

~50 users using Solidworks Globally - 2008 version with PDMWorks workgroup version 2008 on a server at the primary facility.

Couple questions:

Does PDMWorks workgroup allow for replication to remote vaults?  (ie: how would I tell if they replicate to anothe site)

I do have access to the vault administrator and poking around the settings is not showing me anything so I suspect this function is not supported in the work group version.

Does anyone have a good strawman for upgrading from 2008 - 2010 using the workgroup version?

     A plan would be great as I can adjust for our setup while also accounting for all the tasks I should be considering.

     ie:  Export config? Backup files? Vaults? Object lists?

Can I upgrade my license files to support 2010 and then upgrade the code later?  I assume so but hey I better ask!

Any words of wisdom or gotchas are appreciated as I embark on this?
