Sorry if this is a dumb question...

how do I get the partdoc when I have a surface selected within an assembly doc?

The selected surface is on a part (which I want to gain access to so I can GetMaterialPropertyName) and the part is in an assembly document which is currently active.  There are multiple parts within the assemby.
