Once I place an ordinate to create an origin, can I change the ordinate by typing in the coordinates relative to the initial placement? I use both Inventor, and we just also got SolidWorks, and I am still trying to figure things out.
In Inventor, if I am in a detail view, and for added clarity I want to add a reference dimension to a feature already dimensioned in another view, I can place the origin for my ordinates in the center of a hole (for example) in the detail view, and then I can right click on the origin point, and select edit, and then type in the relative dimensions to change the location so when I place the reference ordinate dimension on the hole, it has the correct callout.
However, as I was reading in the help files of SW, it only mentions that I can drag the ordinate to a new location, but if it is a detail view in the actual point of origin is not available, that will not to me very well. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.
