We use Oracle for our documentation system and put a PDF file in oracle as our controlled drawing. We also use PDMWorks as our vault system. Even though our CAD files are in PDM they are not controlled as anyone can make a revision change at anytime. Without integrating Oracle and PDM (\\\$\\\$\\\$) how do we make sure our CAD models always match the PDF? Locking down PDM and limiting checkin/out and revision bumping is not an option as the engineers want total access but at the same time expect the CAD model to be locked down. I thought about putting a note on the drawings calling out what file version was used to create the drawing. Even that doesn't seem bullet proof as the designers/engineers could type in the wrong version number inadvertently.
