I've searched through the forum questions and haven't found anything that pertains to these errors so maybe someone out there can help me out. I'm getting a couple of odd errors in SW2012 sp5. There are two specific errors I'd like to try to fix.
The first error comes when renaming a part in an assembly (assigning it a part number or changing the revision, etc.). After renaming the part, the references are correct in all ways that I can verify, except that it still shows the old name in the assembly tree. When I open the part from the assembly it opens the correct part and the correct part is displayed, but the name just won't update in the design tree. The only workaround I've been able to find is to use the save as a copy option to rename it then replace the part with references for more than a part of two, this becomes rather cumbersome when working with multiple drawings, subassemblies, etc.! The renaming worked fine in SW2010, was intermittent in 2011, and now seems to be totally broken in 2012 at least as far as displaying the correct name in the assembly after the renaming operation. The same error is occuring for various designers and systems all on network licenses. The error also seems to affect both parts and subassemblies.
The second issue which is related to renaming is that we had a part disapear from all views in the part drawing (turned into boxes with hash marks) when the assembly it was a part of was renamed. The part itself did not change, and the name of the part remained the same. The view came back after the designer logged out and logged back in, so this may not actually be a problem but it seemed loosly related to the other renaming issue we are having.
Any help with these errors would be greatly appreciated!
