I am looking to build a PC to run solidworks as my curent machine is begining to show its age. I have built many systems for home use but never a workstation. I have chosen components that I would use to piece together a home system and I am wondering if they are robust enough to build a workstation. Please let me know what your concerns would be if any with the folloing components
AMD Phenom II 965 (4 x 3.4Ghz) Processor - I have been a fan of the AMD components forever and the Intel counterpart is just to expensive.
MSI AM3 Motherboard built around the Nvidia Nforce 980a chipset - this will support 1333Mhz memory and the above proc
Nvidia Quadro FX 1800 pci-e video adapter - is this better than an older Quadro FX 3450?
8Gig of 1333Mhz memory
850 watt power supply
I am wondering if the Nvidia Nforce 980a chipset will play well with the Quadro video card - I noticed that the manufacturers of workstations are using workstation specific chipsets. So far as aspeced this amounts to about \$1550 and I am trying to keep it under \$1600. Any advice?
