I'm not familiar at all with the best approach here, looking for advice.

I need to fixture a large plastic instrument panel for robotic nut insertion and I cannot figure out the best way to start. The part is just one imported body - no surfaces.

Should I make an envelope around it inside the part - Insert - > Part, and Combine (subtract) the IP from the block? That got me close to where I think I need to be but then I couldn't figure out how to easily cut the top off (I only need the underside of the model).

If anyone is familiar with this type of work, I'd certainly appreciate the guidance as I'm nearly out of hair to pull out.
